Oregon Department of Energy to release Renewable Energy Development grants in December

Oregon Department of Energy will open up applications for about $2 million in Renewable Energy Development (RED) grants by mid-December. These grants are available to Oregon businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations that want to invest in renewable energy.

Qualifying projects include renewable energy generation systems for biomass, solar, geothermal, hydropower, wind, landfill gas, biogas, wave, tidal or ocean thermal energy technology (not to exceed 35 megawatts).

RED grants are awarded annually through a competitive application process. Grants are awarded up to $250,000 per project, not to exceed 35 percent of eligible project costs. In February 2016, Oregon Department of Energy awarded 15 recipients almost $1.5 million in grants.

The RED grant offering will be available at www.oregon.gov/energy.
