June Allies for Efficiency: Integrating Beauty, High Performance and Red List Free Materials

NB_CowhornCowhorn Vineyard is an award-winning, biodynamic vineyard nestled in Southern Oregon’s picturesque Applegate Valley. When owners Bill and Barbara Steele looked to create a new tasting room and case storage area for their growing business, sustainability goals were high on their list of priorities. The new tasting room is seeking Living Building Challenge Petal Certification (Water, Materials and Beauty) and used Passive House principles and strategies to make the building net-zero ready.

The June Allies for Efficiency training will explore the project’s sustainability goals and the impact of these goals on the overall design concept, discuss the synergies between certifications like Passive House and the Living Building Challenge, and explore strategies to achieve a high-performance building that is free from harmful Red List building materials. The owners and members of Green Hammer’s unified design-build team will share perspectives on the project’s challenges, successes and lessons learned.
