Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance has been working with a local equipment manufacturer to produce a new packaged commercial heat recovery ventilation system designed for existing small commercial buildings. The new recovery ventilation system can replace packaged rooftop air handling units, dramatically reducing the heating and cooling loads for ventilation air while providing exceptional indoor air quality. In August, Amy Montgomery, building science engineer at RDH Building Science Inc., will present this new project at the Building Energy Simulation Forum.
The project is currently in the demonstration phase, with up to 15 small commercial buildings participating in a pilot this year. The pilot will measure and assess the pre- and post-conversion energy performance for heating, cooling and ventilation, and the associated energy savings. This presentation will focus on energy modeling, including key findings and lessons learned.
