New extended capacity heat pump incentive


Energy Trust of Oregon is pleased to announce new incentives for trade allies who install energy-efficient HVAC systems for their customers. As of June 1, 2020, extended capacity heat pumps installed as a residence’s primary heat source are now eligible for cash incentives up to $1,650.

Extended capacity heat pumps operate the same way as standard heat pumps and provide residents with year-round comfort by moving heat in or out of a home depending on the season. They are unlike standard single-speed, two-speed and other variable-speed heat pumps as they don’t commonly require inefficient backup heating systems to maintain home comfort. Rather, extended capacity heat pumps utilize technologically advanced compressors that are capable of efficiently operating in much colder outdoor temperatures.

By relying less on inefficient, backup heating systems, extended capacity heat pumps have the potential to save customers a considerable amount of energy, especially during the cold winter months.

The following extended capacity heat pump incentives are available for single-family, manufactured and multifamily* homes:
