Of the 2,057 adults polled by Marketing Sherpa, a majority of respondents across all age groups expressed clearly that they prefer when companies communicate with them through email. Postal mail came in second overall but showed the most variation between age groups—it was tied with email for the 65+ demographic.
Tor Valenza, a.k.a. Solar Fred, goes further to say, “Based on this chart, the big take-away for me is that people, regardless of age, want to be in control of how you communicate to them. The more invasive you get into people’s daily lives—i.e. phone, door-to-door, online commercials—the less people prefer that form of communication.”
