Building Operator Certification Incentive Update

Engineer in front of equipment

Energy Trust now offers increased incentives for Building Operator Certification (BOC). This is a great opportunity to connect your customers with an accredited training resource. Keep your customers informed about the latest technologies and strategies for maintaining equipment, improving energy efficiency and reducing energy costs.

BOC is designed for facility operators including engineers, technicians, architects, facility managers, maintenance personnel and energy managers working in the commercial and multifamily marketplace. In addition to maximizing energy savings, the benefits of BOC include enhanced occupant comfort, improved indoor air quality, and increased credibility with tenants or property owners.

Eligible participants can receive up to $1,600 toward the cost of level 1 or level 2 certification. For commercial properties, participants can receive up to $1,600 for all commercial buildings with either gas or electric qualifying utilities. For multifamily properties, participants can receive up to $1,600 for multifamily buildings over 70,000 sq. ft with qualifying electric utility. For multifamily properties with a qualifying gas utility only, participants can receive up to $400 toward the cost of certification. Heating for dwelling units must be served by a central system.

For all properties, an eligible utility must provide primary heating for the building.

Participants may not receive an incentive for both level 1 and level 2 certification within three years.
