Sizing Air Conditioning in the New Northwest – CEU credit
OCTOBER 28, 2021 | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
- This event has passed.
The summer of 2021 saw record high temperatures across the Northwest. Areas that typically saw mild summer temperature experienced day time highs exceeding those of Las Vegas. Portland’s summer design temperature is 86F. It’s clear that using 86F as a design temp would result in unsatisfied customers and maybe a few lawsuits. What design temperatures should be used, and will the capacity of the air conditioner be at the selected design temperature? More importantly will your customer be kept comfortable on the hot days of summer.
This course will focus on:
- Understanding air conditioning capacity curves
- What summer design temperature to use
- Selecting reasonable inputs for windows, air exchange rates, and duct multipliers
- Why in the Northwest it is the Heat and not the humidity
