Heat pump water heater products continue to improve and become more efficient, and can now be up to three times more efficient than conventional water heaters. Manufacturers are producing a wider range of models rated for northern climates and eligible for incentives.

• Tier 3 heat pump water heaters of any size are eligible for a $500 incentive. The water heater must be a replacement for an electric water heater.
• Tier 2 heat pump water heaters up to 55 gallons are eligible for a $500 incentive. The water heater must be a replacement for an existing water heater.
• Tier 1 heat pump water heaters up to 55 gallons are eligible for a $150 incentive.
