Third-party-owned solar projects remain ineligible in early 2026

Energy Trust has received many questions from Solar trade allies about third party owned solar and solar + storage systems. At this time, Energy Trust is not allocating incentives for residential systems unless they are customer-owned.

As a reminder, Energy Trust’s residential incentive agreements show the customer’s name as “system owner,” and the terms and conditions signed by the customer state that the system owner owns the real property at the installation site and has obtained and will maintain all consents necessary to install and operate the system. Submission of a project that is not customer-owned violates the terms of Energy Trust’s incentive agreement and violates Solar trade ally requirements.

Please contact your account manager or the Solar team if you have questions or concerns.
