Summer Fowler grew up on a houseboat on Portland’s Willamette River, where she witnessed firsthand the delicate balance between urban development and the natural environment. The river was both her playground and a reminder of the harm caused by pollution, planting the seed for her career in sustainability and architecture.

After founding EcoREALSolutions in 2009, Summer became a leader in high-performance building design, championing initiatives like Energy Trust’s Path to Net Zero. Her work emphasizes collaboration with contractors and tradespeople from the outset of projects, ensuring healthier, more sustainable buildings. She also advocates for workplace flexibility and equity, including supporting working mothers in the industry, and believes integrating human-centric and life-cycle impacts is key to meaningful sustainability.
