Solar Trade Ally Elemental Energy has partnered with Twende Solar, a Portland-based nonprofit, and a team of volunteers from the Oregon solar industry to install a 100-kW solar system on the Portland Rescue Mission women’s recovery center Shepherd’s Door. Elemental Energy and Twende Solar conceived the idea of a volunteer based installation in order to help decrease project costs and make solar accessible for the Portland Rescue Mission. Investing in solar will allow the Portland Rescue Mission to decrease operating expenses for the Shepherd’s Door women’s recovery center and allow them to invest those savings into their services: providing addiction recovery and life skills training to thousands of men, women and children affected by homelessness, addiction, hunger and abuse.
The installation will take place May 4-17 with opportunities for 20-30 volunteers daily. Solar trade ally installers and their employees can find out more about the project and how to get involved on the website or find our more by contacting Marissa Johnson, executive director for Twende Solar.
