New equipment incentives for Washington builders

Builders of new homes in Washington have multiple options to qualify for incentives from Energy Trust of Oregon. To maximize incentives, builders can work with verifiers to apply for incentives based on energy modeling or the energy code credits the home achieves. Starting in 2022, builders can also take advantage of simpler single upgrade incentives for qualifying smart thermostats and gas fireplaces.

Smart thermostat incentives:

  • $125 per home
  • Home must be in Washington and receive service from NW Natural
  • Home must use natural gas for primary space heat and install qualifying smart thermostats
  • Thermostat must be on Energy Trust’s Qualified Product List
  • Home may not participate in the whole home or code credits incentive offerings

Gas fireplace incentives:

  • $200 per qualifying gas fireplace
  • Home must be in Washington and receive service from NW Natural
  • Home does not need to use natural gas for primary space heat
  • Fireplace natural gas efficiency FE rating must be 70 FE or higher, as indicated in the Canadian EnerGuide Product List
  • Home may not participate in the whole home or code credits incentive offerings

We’ve made it easy to apply for these incentives. Builders or their verifiers can fill out and submit this form for up to twenty homes at a time.
