In summer, multifamily customers often analyze their HVAC systems and service aging equipment. Take this time to suggest replacing outdated, inefficient gas systems with high-efficiency gas boilers.
Older gas boilers may operate at a 50 to 75 percent thermal efficiency level, compared to newer boilers that have a minimum thermal efficiency of 90 percent. New boilers with electronic ignition are more efficient than boilers with standing pilot lights. More efficient boilers help customers save on gas bills and reduce operating costs.
Energy Trust offers incentives of $8 to $10 per kBtuh for condensing gas boilers with electronic ignition and a minimum of 94 percent thermal efficiency. Custom incentives may also be available for systems that save energy but don’t fall within standard requirements.
Multifamily incentives are available for apartments, assisted living facilities, campus living facilities, condominiums, townhomes and duplexes.
