Everyone can relate to a noisy bathroom fan, but the long-term effect of faulty exhaust fans can be more than just a nuisance. Bathroom exhaust fans are a critical part of moisture control and ventilation, especially in multifamily properties where some bathrooms may not have access to fresh air. Exhaust fans expel hot, humid air from bathrooms and bring in fresh, dry air. Efficient exhaust fans increase tenant comfort levels and reduce energy usage, and models with variable-speed fans and controls can result in even higher savings.
Energy Trust offers cash incentives for energy-efficient exhaust fans in qualifying multifamily properties:
- Bathroom exhaust fans with lighting that use a CFL with GU-24 socket or LED ≤ 26W, and meet ENERGY STAR® requirements with a rating of 5.3 CFM/W (cubic feet per minute per watt) or higher may qualify for a $50 Energy Trust cash incentive.
- Bathroom exhaust fans without lighting that meet ENERGY STAR requirements with a rating of 5.3 CFM/W or higher may qualify for a $20 Energy Trust cash incentive.
A new energy-efficient bathroom exhaust fan can provide a quieter and more comfortable living space while saving energy.
