In the first podcast of the Build it Bright! Crafting your Solar Marketing Program training series, Glenna Wiseman of Identity3 sat down and interviewed Aimee Tuck with Corbae Creative to get her insight on the effective use of graphics in marketing solar.
The conversation covered a wide range of topics including the necessity of taking an inventory of your graphic assets (logos, brochures, advertisements, forms, website and images) and how to set up a digital filing system to help.
Aimee explained how creating a style guide for your solar business can save you time and money. If you think of your business as having a unique personality, or brand, a style guide is a list of instructions on how that personality should appear. A well put together style guide is a reference document with a list of answers to the questions that consistently come up.
“It gives you an overview of the company. It talks about logo usage, font usage, color usage, your tone of voice,” said Aimee. Having your business represented consistently from the brochures to contracts to employee email signatures conveys a professional image of your business to customers.
The podcast also covered the importance of spending marketing dollars effectively in an increasingly competitive solar market, tips on how to get the most out of working with outside creative agencies, and some of the 2016 graphic trends you may want to consider incorporating into your marketing.
