Oregon rental properties qualify for a Residential Energy Tax Credit

Oregon homeowners and renters who install solar energy systems or qualifying energy-efficiency equipment can claim a credit on their personal income taxes. The device must be installed on a home used as a primary or secondary residence. These credits also apply to residential rental properties, including individual units within a multiple-unit residential housing complex. To claim a tax credit, the applicant:

  • Must be subject to Oregon personal income tax
  • Must submit separate Residential Energy Tax Credit applications for each eligible device
  • Must comply with all other eligibility requirements

For additional information, see the Oregon Department of Energy’s Residential Energy Tax Credit Rules and 2015 Residential Energy Tax Credit Chart. Applicants can also call toll free at 1-800-221-8035.
