New Tankless Water Heater Incentive

Energy Trust’s Home Retrofit program will begin offering incentives of up to $400 for qualifying tankless water heaters which are professionally installed in Oregon homes starting April 1, 2022.

This offer will provide an incentive to existing gas customers replacing a gas storage tank water heater with a tankless water heater with a 0.82 or greater uniform energy factor (UEF). The unit must have an existing dedicated ½” gas line capable of serving the tankless water heater or a ¾” gas line that is capable of serving the other gas appliances in the house, along with the tankless water heater. Due to the specific gas line requirement, we are relying on trade allies to assess a home’s gas load and pipe sizing requirements before an incentive is offered for these installations.

This offer will also provide an incentive to new gas customers who are adding a new gas service line to an existing home, where the gas utility is sponsoring most or all of  the cost of the new gas service line to the home and, the homeowner is responsible for the cost of upgrading the length of pipe from their meter to the new tankless water heater from a standard ½” line to a ¾” or 1” line.

Starting April 1, trade allies in Oregon can download an incentive application and submit it by standard mail, email or fax. This incentive will not be available through the online application.
