Energy Trust increases Business Lighting incentives and caps in March 2022


Energy Trust’s Business Lighting team is happy to announce new incentive caps and updated requirements, effective March 21, 2022. The latest information is included in the updated Lighting Tool available on Insider. Changes include:

  • Annual project and participant incentive caps for commercial and industrial sites increased to $250,000 per project
  • Trade ally company caps and active project caps were removed
  • Allowable percentages of incentives to total project costs increased
    • 50% for all street lighting, custom and horticulture projects (does not include controls)
    • 70% for lighting measures with integrated LLLC
  • Calculated incentives for horticultural lighting and controls increased from $0.15 per kWh saved to $0.18 per kWh saved
  • LED high-bay/low-bay fixtures (with or without LLLCs) 
    • LED high-bay/low-bay fixtures (with or without LLLCs) 
      • 40-90W – increased from $75 to $100 per fixture, and from $130 to $155 per fixture with LLLC
      • 91-140W – increased from $115 to $150 per fixture, and from $180 to $215 per fixture with LLLC 
      • 141-299W – increased from $125 to $175 per fixture, and from $200 to $250 per fixture with LLLC
      • 300W or greater – increased from $175 to $250 per fixture, and from $280 to $355 per fixture with LLLC
  • Fixture mount occupancy controls increased from $30 to $40 per sensor
  • Interior fixtures with LLLC
    • 26-57W – increased from $75 to $80 per fixture with LLLC
    • 58-100W – increased from $80 to $85 per fixture with LLLC

As of March 21, 2022, all projects submitted for an incentive agreement must use the new Lighting Tool, v2022.3. The version number is shown at the top right corner of the 100L tab in the Lighting Tool. This version includes all changes listed above and adds a selection for incentive payee – participant, trade ally or other. The updated Lighting Tool and Business Lighting incentive forms are available on Insider.
