Energy Trust updates incentives annually to ensure we offer cost-effective savings. The following updates went into effect on January 1, 2018. These updates apply to single-family and manufactured homes, and some incentives have been expanded to now include duplex, triplex, fourplex and side-by-side multifamily properties. Incentives not listed below will remain at their current 2017 levels.

• Heat pump (replacing electric resistance heat)—Incentives for upgrading from an electric furnace, baseboard heat, a wall heater or ceiling heat will be merged into one incentive offer of $700 for heat pumps with an HSPF of 8.5 and above. The new heat pumps controls incentive of $250 can be combined with this incentive.
• Heat pump (replacing electric resistance heat), Savings Within Reach—Savings Within Reach incentives for upgrading from an electric furnace, baseboard heat, a wall heater or ceiling heat will be merged into one incentive offer of $1,000 for heat pumps with an HSPF of 8.5 and above.
• Heat pump upgrade—Upgrading an existing heat pump to a new high-efficiency (HSPF 9.0+) heat pump is no longer cost-effective. However, projects previously eligible for this incentive still may be eligible for an incentive for controlling new heat pumps installed with electric furnace auxiliary heat; see new heat pump controls incentive.
• New heat pump controls, standard and Savings Within Reach—The new heat pump must utilize an electric forced-air furnace as its auxiliary heat and must be installed with a thermostat configured to lockout the auxiliary heat down to a temperature of 35°F using either an outdoor temperature sensor or internet connectivity. Participants completing Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS) or CheckMe! projects are eligible for this measure as long as they meet the above requirements. However, PTCS or CheckMe! are not required for eligibility. There is no longer an HSPF requirement for this measure. The incentive level is $250.
• Existing heat pump controls, professional installation—The incentive for professionally installed controls on an existing heat pump will increase to $250. The existing heat pump must utilize an electric forced-air furnace as its auxiliary heat and must be installed with a thermostat configured to lockout the auxiliary heat down to a temperature of 35°F using either an outdoor temperature sensor or internet connectivity.
• Heat pump optimization—This incentive will be consolidated with other heat pump controls incentives; see new heat pump controls measure.
• Heat pump advanced controls—This incentive will be consolidated with other heat pump controls incentives; see new heat pump controls measure.
• Heat pumps and heat pump controls in multifamily properties – Incentives for heat pumps and heat pump controls are now available for duplex, triplex, fourplex and side-by-side structures. These properties can receive $700 for ducted heat pumps with an HSPF of 8.5 and above replacing electric resistance heat, and $250 for controls installed on new or existing heat pumps with electric auxiliary heat set to a 35°F lockout temperature.
• A-lamp LED, direct install—The incentive for installing an A-lamp LED will be $5.50.
• Reflector LED, direct install—The incentive for installing a reflector LED will be $8.75.

As a reminder, the following incentive changes went into effect October 2, 2017:

• Heat pump water heater—The $150-$300 customer-facing incentive for heat pump water heaters in single family homes (for all three tiers) were removed, effective October 2, 2017. Heat pump water heater incentives are now only available as instant discounts at select retailers and competitive prices from participating installers and distributors.
• Gas tank water heater—The $100 customer-facing incentive for gas tank water heaters in single family homes was removed, effective October 2, 2017. Gas tank water heater incentives are now only available as instant discounts at select retail locations and competitive prices from participating installers and distributors.
