Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® to sunset on December 31, 2024

After 20 successful years of delivering energy improvements to homes across the country, the U.S. Department of Energy will sunset the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) program effective December 31, 2024. This decision was primarily driven by the funding enabled by the Inflation Reduction Act, which is intended to achieve many of the same objectives as the HPwES program.

The U.S. Department of Energy encourages participating contractors to prepare for the conclusion of the program by phasing out any mention of HPwES or its logo in all marketing pieces, vehicle wraps and apparel that is planned to be used in 2024. Additionally, Energy Trust HPwES-specific incentive application forms will also be discontinued. For equivalent up-to-date forms, please reach out to your Energy Trust account manager or visit the Insider Home Retrofit forms page.
