Home energy performance scoring update

The Oregon Department of Energy has been working with industry experts to define a process for home energy performance scoring to increase consumer awareness about home energy use and opportunities to save energy. At least one scoring system is expected to be approved by January 2016.

Home Energy Performance Assessors play a key role to advance the widespread adoption of home energy performance scores. Home Energy Performance Assessors receive training and certification through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board and hold a Home Energy Performance Assessor license, independently or through the contracting business they represent. Trade ally contractors using energy performance scoring tools like Energy Trust’s EPSTM must meet all qualifications and become an approved Home Energy Performance Assessor prior to assigning scores to homes.
