Over the last eight years, Energy Trust’s appliance recycling efforts have greatly reduced the number of energy-wasting appliances in Oregon, and new refrigerators, freezers and clothes washers are more efficient than ever due to increased federal appliance and equipment standards.
Because of the increased efficiency of new models and reduced number of inefficient models needing to be recycled, Energy Trust incentives for appliance recycling will expire at the end of this year.
Customers who want to receive an incentive for recycling their old refrigerator, freezer or clothes washer must schedule a pickup appointment no later than 5:00 p.m. PST on December 31, 2016. Schedule by calling 1-844-368-4545.
Appointments are subject to scheduling availability and may fill up before the December 31 deadline. All recycling appointments will conclude by January 31, 2017.
After Energy Trust retires its appliance recycling service, customers may contact their local junk hauler or talk to a local retailer about recycling their old unit when buying a new appliance.
If you have any questions about this change, talk with your field representative at their next visit.
