GE Appliances will cease production of the GE GeoSpring heat pump water heater at the end of 2016. GE will continue to support the product through the end of 2016 and will honor product warranty per the existing customer purchase agreements.

There are no changes to Energy Trust’s incentives for qualifying heat pump water heaters, including qualifying GE models. Energy Trust and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance will continue to support energy-efficient heat pump water heater technology.

Other heat pump water heaters are available in the market and eligible for Energy Trust incentives, including those produced by A. O. Smith, a manufacturer that represents nearly one-half of the U.S. water heater market. NEEA also announced that at least one additional manufacturer will likely enter the market with a higher-tier product in early 2017.
