Prepare for the 2021 WSEC-R with the 2021 WSEC-R Energy Code Cookbook

Energy Trust previously announced that it will discontinue the Washington EPS New Construction offer by the end of 2024. To help Washington builders of new single-family homes prepare for the 2021 Washington State Residential Energy Code (WSEC-R), Energy Trust is helping build awareness of the 2021 WSEC-R Energy Code Cookbook created by BetterBuiltNW.

The 2021 WSEC-R Energy Code Cookbook provides easy-to-follow “recipes” designed to give builders and designers strategies for meeting 2021 WSEC-R Section R406: Additional Energy Efficiency Requirements. Every recipe includes:

  • A breakdown of compliance pathways and credits
  • The benefits of each pathway
  • Related training and resources

Recipes in the cookbook are organized by home size (small, medium or large), heating types, and hot water system types. Based on these criteria, users can navigate the cookbook to identify the minimum number of Additional Energy Efficiency Requirement credits needed to comply with the 2021 WSEC-R. The cookbook also contains information on additional opportunities to earn credits.
