Effective after April 30, 2015, Energy Trust will discontinue some incentives for Existing Homes following a September 30 Oregon Public Utility Commission decision on a portion of natural gas energy-efficiency measures and programs currently supported by Energy Trust through an OPUC exception to the cost-effectiveness requirement.
As stewards of utility customer dollars, Energy Trust is required by law to use cost-effectiveness analyses and tests to ensure incentive dollars are provided for energy-efficiency improvements that pay back a customer’s investment within a reasonable timeframe and benefit all utility customers.
The following measures will be discontinued based on the OPUC decision:
- Duct, floor and wall insulation incentives for Oregon homes heated with gas will be discontinued. The incentive will not change for electrically heated homes.
- Air sealing incentives for Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® projects will be discontinued. Air sealing incentives will still be available for Savings Within Reach and manufactured homes projects.
