The Home Retrofit Training Team partnered with Earth Advantage to deliver a very successful duct sealing training in Salem, Oregon.

Fourteen participants from five organizations attended the two-day training. The classroom portion included four hours of instruction from industry experts on duct sealing processes and best practices for manufactured homes, along with a detailed review of diagnostic equipment. Participants also received hands-on practice using blower door and duct blaster tools. During the field portion, participants worked under instructor guidance to seal ducts in two manufactured homes in the Salem area. The homes received upgrades including new crossover ducts, reconstructed duct boots and freshly sealed duct systems.

One home was in need of a large amount of duct repair and sealing. Working together, the group achieved a 90% improvement in the home’s duct leakage.

The training cohort will begin the process of joining the manufactured home duct sealing program in the Mid-Willamette Valley, increasing the knowledge and offerings for this work in the area.
