Solar program announces increase to business incentives and project size caps

Last year, in response to market conditions and high demand, Energy Trust implemented a size cap on eligible solar projects for business customers along with a reduction of incentive caps and rates. These changes were made in order to support as many projects as possible with a limited budget while maintaining available funding throughout the year.

Effective January 9, 2018, Energy Trust moderately increased the business incentive rates and is increasing the project size caps for utility customers of Portland General Electric and Pacific Power. The new rates and caps are summarized below.

Customers for Portland General Electric
$0.60/W to $0.30/W up to $60,000 (at 200 kW)
Annual Customer Maximum: $60,000
Maximum Eligible Project Size: 400 kW

 Customers of Pacific Power
$0.55/W to $0.20/W up to $40,000 (at 200 kW)
Annual Customer Maximum: $40,000
Maximum Eligible Project Size: 250 kW

To be transparent and as predictable as possible, Energy Trust will continue the usual strategy of gradual, stepped incentive reductions to manage solar incentive funds. Current and upcoming incentive rates and allocations are posted in the Solar Incentive Status Report.
