New Buildings Program: Energy Savings and Support

No matter the size or complexity of your project, Energy Trust offers technical guidance and incentives to help you reach your energy goals. Your outreach manager can help you determine which incentives and resources could best support your project. Here are some of our offers:

DESIGN SUPPORT

Early Design Assistance

Enroll your project as early as possible and work with us to organize a design

charrette (an early design meeting) to address energy performance and qualify for a cash incentive. You can increase your incentive by including a commissioning agent, solar trade ally contractor or grid-interactive efficient building (GEB) expert at your charrette.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

We provide cash incentives to offset the cost of technical studies, including design review commissioning.

WHOLE BUILDING APPROACH

Technical studies

Take it one step further and save more with the Whole Building approach. Incentives

can cover a portion of the approved energy analysis costs for common studies such as:

  • Energy modeling
  • Early design shoebox modeling
  • Design review commissioning (CxDR)
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis
  • Daylighting studies

Cash incentives for energy savings

When you take a holistic design approach beyond individual equipment choices, you can receive an incentive based on therm or kWh of energy savings in your model. To be eligible for Whole Building incentives, your project must develop a Whole Building energy model and commit to achieve at least 5% savings over code-minimum baseline. Incentives include:

  • Higher incentive available for early design meeting
  • Energy metering

Path to Net Zero

Whole Building projects that reduce energy use intensity by at least 80% beyond

the average (amount/intensity) may qualify for Path to Net Zero, which provides a higher incentive rate per therm or kWh.
