DESCRIPTION:Join Earth Advantage and the Oregon Association of Realtors for this webinar designed to help real estate professionals understand how the new statewide Oregon Home Energy Score program works and how to leverage it with your clients to help them clearly identify energy costs and upgrade opportunities.  \nTake advantage of this new voluntary program that can help clients get a Home Energy Score and easily understand energy costs\, upgrade options and paybacks. \nThe Oregon Dept. of Energy’s (ODOE) new Home Energy Score initiative was launched in early 2019 in order to offer a statewide\, standardized approach to home energy scoring. A Home Energy Score helps homeowners and homebuyers identify improvements that can make a big difference in energy savings\, comfort\, health and durability. Providing a Home Energy Score at the time of listing can also give sellers a boost in the current housing market where energy efficiency and renewable energy are highly valued. A score can also help homebuyers – especially first-time buyers – understand how energy bills could affect their budget in a new home. \nAttend this webinar and gain a comprehensive overview of the new program and answers to common questions that will help you become the ultimate resource for your clients. \n\n\nThe Oregon Home Energy Score will provide a voluntary framework for homeowners to hire a trained and authorized Home Energy Assessor to perform a Home Energy Assessment and deliver a Home Energy Score. The Home Energy Score was developed by US Dept. of Energy and is currently being used in the City of Portland’s Home Energy Score program. Earth Advantage implements the program on behalf of ODOE and City of Portland by providing Home Energy Assessor training\, authorization\, and quality assurance services in order to ensure scoring accuracy and consistency across communities. SUMMARY:Overview of the Commercial Provisions of the 2019 Oregon Commercial Energy Code (OCEC)
DESCRIPTION:Energy Trust and NEEA invite you to join us for a training on the 2019/2020 code changes on November 7\, at the Mercy Corps building in Portland. This half-day event will feature four one-hour modules. We encourage members of the building\, design and code compliance industry to attend one or all the sessions based on interest. \nScheduled Training Sessions \nCommercial Mechanical Provisions of the OCEC (9–10 a.m.): \nLearn about the HVAC requirements for typical Oregon buildings and provisions that significantly impact energy use\, as we compare the current 2014 OEESPC and the 2019 OCEC. \nBuilding Envelope Requirements of the OCEC (10–11 a.m.): \nGet to know the building envelope provisions of the OCEC\, including the updated building envelope R-value/U-factor requirements\, continuous air barrier requirements and other significant changes from the current OEESPC. \nLighting System Requirements of the OCEC (12–1 p.m.): \nFamiliarize yourself with the new lighting power density requirements\, the new lighting control requirements and how to determine what controls apply to what spaces. \nScope and Application of 2019 OCEC to New and Existing Buildings (1–2 p.m.): \nLearn how the commercial provisions of the OCEC apply to new and existing buildings. This is important for code implementation and ultimately achieving energy savings. We’ll also talk about exemptions that apply for new construction\, and how the OCEC applies to additions\, alterations and repairs. \nAbout the presenter: \nEric Makela is an associate director at New Buildings Institute with 30 years of experience in building energy codes and policy. Eric served on the ICC IECC Code Development Committee for four cycles\, and now represents the Northwest Energy Codes Group in developing IECC code change proposals. He previously worked as a senior member of the U.S. DOE Building Energy Codes Program\, where he focused on outreach and education to states and national stakeholders. \nOver his career\, Eric has trained the building\, design and enforcement industry in over 20 states and a variety of venues. He was a recipient of the 2009 Jeffrey A. Johnson Award and the 2008 Canyon County Habitat for Humanity Volunteer of the Year. He has a B.A. in environmental studies from Sonoma State University and an M.A. in education from California State University\, Sacramento.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Sustainable Homes Professional (SHP) program and learn cutting edge design and building best practices from our expert instructor\, Stephen Aiguier of Green Hammer\, as he guides participants through the entire spectrum of high performance building and shares practical insights on the following: \n\nBuilding science fundamentals & moisture management\nHigh performance wall & roof assemblies\nHVAC product selection & integrated system design\nWater conservation techniques\nIndoor air quality\, green material considerations & health impacts\nLocal green/energy efficiency building programs & incentives\n\n​SHP is a comprehensive\, interactive\, experience-driven education program for residential and multifamily building and design professionals who are looking to take their projects to the next level of quality. DESCRIPTION:This technical training provides a detailed overview of the Home Retrofit Specifications Manual. The manual is revised and published once a year and articulates Energy Trust of Oregon’s requirements for measure installations in detached single family houses. This webinar will explain how projects are reviewed by the program through Quality Assurance visits\, how to avoid common causes of corrective actions and other tips for ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the specifications. \nThis webinar is 2 hours long. Attendance is a prerequisite to enrolling in the trade ally network but all contractors performing work for Energy Trust customers are welcome and encouraged to participate. \nCost: free
