COVID-19 Solar Program Updates

We recognize that your business is facing uncertainty as local, state and federal responses to the coronavirus pandemic continue to evolve. We also understand that the long-term impacts of this situation remain unclear. We want you to know that it’s our goal to support our trade allies and customers, not only with incentives and services, but also with tools and resources to help navigate this situation.

Energy Trust remains open for business with some adjustments in our day-to-day operations. Our staff is working remotely and we will continue to process incentive applications, verifications, and payments as efficiently as possible to minimize disruption to normal business activities. We are seeing no delays thus far.

The Solar program will make the following changes to our process in an effort to expedite verification and incentive payment timelines and adhere to Governor Brown’s Stay Home, Save Lives executive order.

Incentive Check Direct Deposit: The Solar program will adopt an ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment pathway for our Solar Trade Allies. You will receive an email communication in the coming days with information on how to sign up for ACH payments from Energy Trust and if you have any questions please contact solar@energytrust.org.

Onsite Verification Process: The Solar program has temporarily adjusted the onsite verification process to adhere to social distancing guidelines and limit contact with customers. Verifier representatives will observe social distancing requirements at all times, minimizing customer interactions and impacts. If any customer feels unwell or prefers to delay verification, Energy Trust will work with them and their solar trade ally to accommodate their needs.

Remote Sales & System Design Tools: Until further notice, the Solar program has preapproved business development funds to be used for software tools that help solar trade allies continue working remotely. As trade allies adjust their business practices and expand the use of existing subscriptions or explore using new tools the Solar program will allow solar trade allies to apply business development funds to offset the cost. See the Business Development Fund website for more information and for a pre-approval form. Email solarfund@energytrust.org with any questions.

With program staff working remotely, please direct all necessary program communications to solar@energytrust.org to ensure a timely response. Stay healthy and safe out there!
