Standard incentives available for modulating boiler burners

Modulating boiler burners help reduce energy use in condensing and non-condensing hot water boilers and steam boilers. They are designed to control the burner output (size of flame) to match the boiler’s variable load requirements. The burner maximizes combustion and boiler efficiencies by maintaining correct fuel-to-air ratios across the firing range.

Energy Trust offers an incentive of $2 per kBtu/hour input for qualifying projects that:

  • Replace a dual-stage or on/off burner with a new burner that has a 5:1 turndown ratio or higher.
  • Install the burner in a condensing or non-condensing hot water boiler or steam boiler.
